Engineering vs Producing

Understanding the difference between a sound engineer and a music producer is key to maximizing your recording experience.

A sound engineer focuses on the technical side—capturing, mixing, and fine-tuning your sound to achieve professional quality. They ensure that every note, beat, and lyric is recorded with precision.

A music producer, on the other hand, takes a broader creative role, helping to shape the overall vision of your project. They collaborate with artists to guide the arrangement, style, and feel of the music, making sure it all comes together cohesively. Both roles are essential, but they bring different expertise to your music production journey.

I prefer to work in sound engineering.  However, I’m happy to step in with production assistance as much or as little as you need. Whether you prefer full creative control or want some extra input, I’m here to support your process.
